What Does It Take to be the Best at any Profession?

While Best Of Professionals offers marketing services to many different professional practices and businesses, only a select few are chosen to be on our Best Of Professionals Search Marketing Platform. The reasons are simple: Choosing someone who is not at the top of their profession or business depreciates the value consumers place on the Best Of platform.

In his book, Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell states: “…, researchers have settled on what they believe is the magic number for true expertise: ten thousand hours.” Assuming a forty hour work week it then takes minimally five years to truly master a profession. Those we choose have spent much more time learning and practicing their professions and have also shown themselves to be focused on their clients, patients, or customers. We require anyone with a practice or business to have been operating for at least three years before we will consider them (Remember they first spent many years of time in education, internships, residencies, etc.) Within professions which require it, they must stay current with continuing education and show a desire to continue learning. Their businesses or practices must be free of any complaints regarding their business practices or show the complaint was dealt with in a customer/client-centric way.

Ultimately, if these qualifications are met the final decision will be made by our staff and editors to determine who is placed as a “Best Of” for any given discipline or business. The obvious disclaimer here is that professional organizations (State Bar, State Medical Examiner, etc.) exist to pass judgment on who is qualified to practice in a given profession; Best of Professionals can in no way state whether or not someone is qualified for a given profession. Every client/patient/customer must perform their own due diligence and then decide for themselves.

Best of Professionals selects up to 5 of the best professionals for a given region and for a given discipline. The selected professionals are among the top of their peer group and are recognized as such by their clients/patients/customers.
